I created this blog in order to try to put the great city of Rockford, Illinois back on the map. I'm sick and tired of people talking down about the city and not even knowing where it is. For god sakes, we're only 2 hours from downtown Chicago and a little over an hour from O'Hare. We're the third biggest city in the state with over 150,000 residents and 300,000+ in the region.
I'm sick of the state politicians overlooking us. I'm sick of all the talk about the third Chicago airport being in Peotone when no one there wants it, and the people in Rockford are salivating at the benefits it would bring.
I'm sick of the missed opportunities. We missed out on NIU, the Joliet race track, I-90 not being built through downtown, etc...
I'm sick of our public school system being so bad. I'm sick of there not being any good paying jobs in the city, and I'm sick of everyone not caring enough to do something about it.
People of Rockford, Illinois: Stand up and fight for your city! Its a great place with good people. No mayor or politician is going to save the town. Its up to us, all of us, to take some responsibility and to have some pride in our hometown!
